Biostar is a value brand. This board is the top of their LGA1155 line. I like buying the best product from a value vendor, for it is a good way of getting quality components at a low price.

This TZ77XE4 is indeed well built, with quality parts (most important of which are capacitors) all around. In terms of features, it is quite satisfactory. There are 4 SATA 3.0 (6Gb) ports, for example, 2 of which are powered by a specialty chip since the Intel Z77 chipset only supports 2. There are two USB 3.0 ports in the back and two more in a front panel. The board's lay-out allows very long video cards, which are typical of today's high-end offering.

I do have two minor complaints, however. First, the board only has two system fan power outlets, while I need five (4 fans in the LIAN LI Lancool PC-K62 Black Plastic Mesh ATX Mid Tower / Computer Case and 1 extra for the DRAM fan). It is straightforward to connect the case fans directly to the power supply, but then I have to forgo any control over their RPM.

The second gripe concerns the on-board power switches. One of the buttons has fallen off and disappeared. I probably will never ever need to press these buttons, but it is still a little disconcerting to find imperfection in a brand-new product.
