I purchased 2 of these to use for D2D backups. They are well built and easy to physically setup and get running. Add 4 x 4TB drives and set the selector to RAID5 for one of them and RAID10 for the other, hoping to compare performance. Connected with USB first and they showed 10.9TB and 7.3 TB respectively. Both formatted fine and simple file copys worked well. Then tried eSata connection. Intel Matrix manager saw them properly, but Windows 2008 R2 would see 1TB and 1.5TB respectively. Probably an issue with the eSata driver. While working on getting that sorted, we went to test the RAID rebuild times in the event of a failed disk. We disconnected the units from the server and then shut the units down, pulled one drive from each unit and placed it in the other. Turned them back on and the rebuild lit up on both units. 2+ days later, they are still lit. Unfortunately, the arrays are completely unavailable during a rebuild. That is the killer. If the array was up, even in a degraded state, it would be OK. Not ideal, but at least we could get data off it. There is also no RAID utility to see whats going on. Needless to say, these are going back.
