This lamp is very pretty. The shade is plastic but with 2 young children this is probably not a bad thing. It puts out very good light and it was a great match for my decor.

I am disappointed that it is not very stable where the post goes into the base (moves around a bit). I expected more for the price I paid. Most floor lamps are unstable these days and thought that spending more money would give me a sturdier lamp. When first assembled, I didn't think it was tight enough and when I tried to tighten it I ended up loosening it. Unfortunately, my engineer husband had to disassemble the lamp to fix the problem. This required cutting the cord and splicing another plug onto the end of it (luckily the big, ugly plug is hidden behind my sofa). I am concerned that if we ever move I'm not going to be able to move this lamp without disassembling it again (and cutting the cord again).
