Diablotek Citadel Mid Tower Case CPA-7620 Review

The case is as far down the low priced case list as I care go. Tough to be too harsh reviewing a $40 case.
Cons:
The bottom drive bays are blocked by the installation of a MoBo, so get your lower drives in first; although you could drill out the rivets, remove the perforated lower front plate, and mount the drives from the front if you were willing to add a bit of bracing too, but that is almost real work :-) .
The brace near the power supply is a tight fit if you use a gasket on your power supply.
The LEDs on the front panel both fell out and required a dab of super glue...
The power switch was not soldered to the connecting wire leads and was held in place by the heat shrink wrap. I had trouble booting my new build, and only barely saw the odd connection. I removed the shrink wrap and re-soldered the connection, insulated with silicone (Better than heat shrink if you have a bit of space IMHO).
Taps for the standoffs were wonky and required a drop of thread lock, but that is a problem in many cases (even expensive ones) because the amount of metal available to tap is minimal...
I could not fit a 120mm Rosewill ball bearing fan in the front fan mounting position because it was too thick. So if you are planning to use a fan there it will need to be thin or 80mm.
3 stand offs were missing.
Only two 3.5" HD brackets are included.
USB 3.0 front panel cable terminates in male USB instead of 20 pin female...(huh?!) annoying...
Pros:
Nice edges! Never felt like I might cut myself.
Case is light and rigid.
The included 80mm case fan is effective and pretty quiet.
Packed well w/formed padding, not likely to arrive as a parallelogram shaped case.
I like the drive mounting system, although it is not truly 'toolless' because you need to screw HD and SSD into the brackets.
A good bit of room inside, no issues fitting all my stuff in and still having room for cable management.
The dimensions for the power supply, MoBo, and drives are good, stuff is easy to slide in and lock down with out forcing or flexing. ( I did have to cut a small notch in my silicone power supply gasket to fit around the brace.)
The absolute best thing about the case was Diablotek customer support. I called, and spoke to a real live person right off the bat, to ask them about additional brackets and they shipped them to me fast and free!
Overall:
Any case in the budget price range is going to have issues. These issues were ones I could cope with pretty well, and the underlying build and design is sturdy, very well ventilated and cools well (I mounted two Rosewill 120mm fans in the side panel, rear mounted 80mm built in case fan, PS fan, stock Intel CPU fan, and Fan on the video card). Overall I am happy with the case and its minimalist look.
