I bought this HIS HD7870 to run in Crossfire with my existing VisionTek HD7850 - I'd have just bought another 7850, but for the extra few dollars this 7870 cost, I figured if I had any crossfire issues at least it was a small upgrade running the 7870 alone.

So far so good with this "no frills" card from HIS, and the Crossfire setup as well. It runs relatively cool when you consider it is the top card of the two, and doesn't get good clean air. I've had it hit 79 Celsius at 100% load while stress testing and running benchmarks, but while gaming it sits in the high 50's to low 60's.

While it is difficult to get an accurate gauge on the single card performance of this 7870, I can tell you that the crossfire setup is scaling between 90 and 110% of what the single 7850 was doing.

Over all I am pretty happy with my purchase, I like the fact that it is the no frills model and doesn't have some huge silly looking cooler attached to it. The Plain Jane cooler does very well in fact, and it even looks much like the slightly smaller 7850 I already owned - which was a consideration in buying this card.
