For memory I used 4 DIMMS (2 sets) of CT2KIT51272BA1339 RAM Module - 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM. Add a case, power supply and disk and you have a really nice little server to run Hyper-V or VMWare, for under $1000. I can confirm the AMD IOMMU allows direct hardware device passthrough using VMWare ESXi 4.1.
