Gateway One ZX6800-01 23-Inch Touch Screen All-in-One Desktop PC Review

I bought a Gateway ZX6800 all-in-one computer (not from Amazon) and have a warning to give: Overall I love the computer, BUT it has a problem. I use it for CPU intensive work such as 3D modelling and have had the system shut down completely several times. In reality, what I do as a hobbyist is nowhere close to what someone in the 3D graphics field would use it for. Only half the heat vents on top are actually open, the other half is covered inside with the casing. Quite simply, the CPU gets too hot and closes down to protect itself. I searched the Gateway site and found they had offered a solution to another model that did this with new BIOS to d/l, but nothing for the ZX6800. I have also tried to open the back of the unit but even after removing all the screws it won't open.

So, today I wrote to Gateway and asked two things; 1) Is there a solution to the problem? and 2) how do I remove the back casing?

Their response? I quote, "From what you have described I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the overheating and need to open the case of the system. I could relate to how inconvenient issues like this can be. Let me see what best I can do for you.

Please be informed that we are unable to provide the instructions to remove the case of the system. In order to resolve the overheating issue we can schedule a repair for the system. However the repair will cost $199 + tax, excluding the shipping charge."

Freakin' useless customer service.
