Strange that the package shipped by Amazon contained no documentation and the tamper-evident seal fell off with no signs of tampering. In desperation I quickly found the manual online... there's not much to it. Installation via Windows system image restore went well, which by itself was a miracle -- but only on the fourth or fifth attempt and only after I disconnected all other internal drives. The VD SSD has been functioning flawlessly for a week now and it's faaaasssst. Just hope it lasts somewhat longer than the Z-Drive m84 that it replaced. I will say that the build quality on these babies has improved dramatically: no separate power cable is required and all chips are surface mounted to the main board (rather than being supplied on daughter boards that plug in through flaky connectors). Recommended, with reservations regarding lifespan; regular backups are essential!
