It is also excellent for museum and gallery type applications to play both legacy PAL/NTSC type video as well as wide-screen video on monitor sized displays. The video resolution handled by the ViewStream 300 media player is up to DVD quality - however the output can be scaled up to 720p equivalent using the VGA connector. Still images up to 1280x720 are supported. The easy to use free DV Studio software enables playlists, scheduling and interactive functions such as using buttons to trigger defined video tracks or images. Barcode reader support has made this a favorite for many retail product promotions. It is also ideal as a DVD player replacement for business use. These are solid-state products that can be programmed (with a free download program) do do just about everything. What is NOT listed is the plug-in adapter for use with push-buttons to control the unit; those have to be ordered separately, and are not listed on Amazon. You'll need to go to the manufacturer's website to get the part number for the adapters, then search for a vendor. Start looking for one of those and you'll see what I mean about "hard to find." However, if you just want to start and loop a video all day, all you need is this unit.

We've had a couple of these in continuous use for almost three years, and have never had a failure. In a museum setting, we set these up to show short video clips when a visitor pushes a button. You can use up to 8 buttons, but you have to order the adapter and wire in your own buttons.

The vendor scared us to death with their projected delivery date. The website said one to two weeks, but when I ordered, the confirmation e-mail said it could be up to a month! They shipped the unit two days after we ordered it, so the service turned out to be very good.
