I purchased a cheaper controller 8 months ago that had similar specs as this controller. It claimed to copy DVDs, CDs and Blu-Rays. I authored a DVD and a Blu-Ray from Final Cut Pro X. The DVD duplicated fine, but the Blu-Ray did not. For the past year I thought it was related to the FCPX, but I was wrong. It was the controller. I swapped the controllers, and without any setup, I copied a complete Blu-Ray in 21 minutes. This has changed my life.

I've uploaded images for the installation guide to the product images of this product. This should give you a good idea about how you might set it up. Interesting note, it specifically calls out a few brands of optical drives it recommends to use: "Pioneer, NEC, Sony (Sony Optiarc), Plextor, Asus, etc." It also recommends that all burners are identical.

Installation was really simple for me. Just mount everything in your case, hook up all the cables (12 SATA cables are included), and turn it on. I have 5 LG optical drives (LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without Software, Black (WH14NS40)), one for read, 4 for write, and they were plug and play.

Usability: This controller makes it extremely easy to copy discs. Push the button labeled "copy" on the front, and it opens all the trays for you. put you master in, and an empty disc into each drive, and it will automatically start when it detects that either all the bays have a disc or are empty. When it completes the copy, it opens up all of the trays for the writer drives, and automatically starts back up after you swap out all the discs. It really makes it easy. It took 21 minutes to burn a full Blu-Ray. DVDs are even quicker.

The reason I didn't purchase this controller in the first place is simply because of the price. I wish I had known how much better this controller is than all others on the market. I believe it is the same controller that Xerox and DiscMakers use for their duplicators, and I'm sure there are more. If you are in the market for a duplicator, look no further. This one is definitely more compatible than the other ones, in my experience, and I think it is easier to use. Definitely worth the higher price.
